With a strong background in oval track events, 36-year old Jim Lapcevich has progressed from the Saturday night "bull-rings" to become one of the top drivers in national stock car racing, with several career victories to his credit. With a strong competitive desire, Jim will always be in the hunt vying for that checkered flag.

In 2007, Jim Lapcevich captured seven top-ten finishes in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and one top-five finish, narrowly missing the winner’s podium on several occasions.

Team Fastline driver Jim Lapcevich captured seven top-ten finishes in the CASCAR Super Series, a pair of top-five finishes, in 2006, taking fourth place at both the Mosport International Raceway Road Course and at the Grand Prix of Montreal.

In the 2005 CASCAR Super Series, Jim captured two top-ten finishes and one top-five finish with a fifth place finish at the Mosport International Raceway Road Course.

For 2004, he finished that season with six top-ten finishes and placed 13th in the CASCAR Super Series points for the season. The Hamilton, Ontario resident's best showing for the year was an encouraging second place at the season-ending Kawartha Speedway event. He finished the 2003 season in the top ten of the CASCAR Super Series Championship with seven top ten and two top five finishes including a second place podium appearance at Peterborough Speedway in September.

In 2002, Jim won the Mopar Parts 500 in Calgary, Alberta and followed that with a second place finish at the Molson Indy Vancouver.

As a former CASCAR Rookie of the Year, the younger Fastline team driver started stock car racing in 1990 after motorcycle and kart racing. He made his mark early in the weekly local stock car arena, placing seventh in the former Molson Export Challenge Cup in 1991, and took third in Flamboro Speedway's Late Model division in 1992.

As a second-generation driver in a family with strong racing roots, Jim took to the ovals and over the years has developed a gutsy driving style, which has matured into a powerful presence in the stock car scene.

In the five years of full-time CASCAR racing, he has finished the season three times in the top ten with a couple of wins to his credit. To date his biggest win came at the Mopar Parts 500 at Calgary's Race City in 2002.

Through the guidance of brother and fellow team driver Jeff Lapcevich, Jim has become a solid road course driver, with two top-five finishes on CASCAR road circuits in 2006. Stints at the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School in Quebec and The Finish Line Racing School in Florida have also helped him in his racing career.

Off the track, Jim enjoys helping others, and spends time volunteering to show others the fun and excitement of stock car racing. "I enjoy going to the Tim Hortons camps and meeting with the kids," he has said. "It's a great feeling to see the look of joy on their faces when they get to sit in the race car."
