Jeff Lapcevich began his racing career on road circuits, and the experience acquired in this form of motorsport has developed into a successful career on the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series tour. He won six road course events in the past four years in the CASCAR Super Series, the predecessor of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
Jeff Lapcevich ran a limited schedule in the 2007 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and finished with two top-ten finishes.
In the 2006 CASCAR Super Series, he had four top-ten and two top-five finishes, including a win in the Griddly Headz 100 at the Grand Prix of Edmonton, and a second-place finish on the Mosport International Raceway Road Course.
In 2005, he finished the CASCAR Super Series with four top-ten and three top-five finishes, including a second-place finish on the Mosport International Raceway Road Course and a third-place finish at the Great Canadian Race at Delaware Speedway.
With his strong road racing background, Jeff Lapcevich has dominated the road courses in CASCAR Super Series competition. For 2004, his first complete season, he had several top-ten finishes including three victories, and the Caistor Center, Ontario driver had his best year to date in the stock car series with a fourth place in the standings.
"2004 was truly a terrific year for me and the others of the Fastline Motorsport team," commented the 38-year old father of three. "My background in road racing finally paid off in CASCAR, and with the help and guidance of brother Jim I was able to hold my own on the oval courses."
Jeff comes from a family long involved in motorsport. Father Joe Lapcevich competed extensively on Southern Ontario tracks. Joe did well at places such as Hamilton's Speedway Park and Merritville Speedway outside of St. Catharines. The senior Lapcevich has maintained a strong interest in racing, and now serves as team captain for his sons' racing exploits with the Hamilton-based team.
While brother Jim started his career on the oval tracks, Jeff started in 1989 with a Camaro in the Players Ltd/GM Motorsport Series. In the next four years, he finished twice in the top ten in points while learning his craft.
After this series, Jeff got involved in the IMSA Camel Lights where he took a third at Lime Rock, Connecticut, and took some podium finishes in the Michelin Enduro Series.
Now becoming a capable competitor, between 1995 and 2000, Jeff raced in series where his talent and versatility was becoming a factor to success. He ran in the World Sports Car Series, and posted top-ten finishes in the Magna Enduro Series, also winning the 1996 Mosport 24-Hour Enduro. For the next two years he made his mark in the Motorola Cup, taking fourth in points in 1997, with one win and four top-five finishes in 1998. With the demise of most road racing venues in Canada, Jeff shifted gears and began a limited CASCAR schedule in 2000 while continuing to ply his road course talents in the United States. He and teammate John Shreiner of Arizona dominated their class in Grand-Am Cup racing, winning four races and the 2002 championship.
Jeff placed a stronger emphasis on CASCAR racing for 2003, and he won both the Vancouver and Toronto CASCAR races at the two Molson Indy events, plus three top-ten places on oval tracks.
In 2004, he continued to run a flourishing campaign, with dominate wins at the Toronto and Vancouver Molson Indy events, a well as the challenging Mosport Road Course event.
For the future, Jeff Lapcevich will continue to race in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, and the merging of his road racing experience with improved oval track successes will make him a strong force to contend with in the upcoming season.
